After
University, I embarked on an accountancy career with the
Birmingham office of
KPMG. I
spent ten years with this firm absorbing an ethos of
professionalism and service-commitment which continues to inform
my professional practice. In this period, managed numerous
assignments encompassing audit, flotation, taxation and general
investigation.
I was
then recruited by KPMG client
Cheltenham & Gloucester Building Society to establish their
Estate Agency subsidiary. Within three years, I was working for
the main business, as it moved into the
Lloyds Banking Group, heading up C&G's taxation,
provisioning, regulatory reporting and treasury administration
functions. I also served as Director and Company Secretary
to numerous group companies
My
involvement with the charity sector started in 2002 when I
became Treasurer of The
Family Haven - a Gloucester-based charity which helps
parents and their pre-school children improve the quality of
their lives.
In 2005, I determined on a career change, deciding that I wanted
to move away from the finance sector and work for an
organisation to whose values I could relate. I was then
appointed as Finance Manager of
Responding To Conflict, a NGO providing specialist advice
and training for non-governmental-organisations and
governments worldwide.
From 2009 I have run an accountancy practice of
over thirty high quality voluntary sector clients. I offer a combination of wide experience,
technical excellence, commitment to service and belief in the
ability of the sector to deliver positive change.
If you feel I
can be of service to your charity, I would be delighted to hear
from you.
